Early Bird Registration Is Now Open!

Each year this highly anticipated event in Washington, DC, focuses on current and future health policy and advocacy issues likely to impact the health quality improvement community. The event is tailored for those working in government affairs, policy, advocacy, and communications, as well as executive leadership. Attendees will hear from staff on Capitol Hill, policy experts and other officials on the latest policy issues concerning Medicare and Health Quality Improvement. 

The 2019 Policy Forum will dive into many of AHQA’s current challenges and opportunities for advocacy. Topics may include:

  • Overview of the healthcare agenda in the 116th Congress
  • HHS priority areas (eg. Medicaid, behavioral health, opioid epidemic)
  • CMS administrative update (eg. CMMI update, deregulatory update, message from the administrator)
  • AHQA legislative and regulatory activity update (eg. NQIIC, business development opportunities)
  • And to other potential topics that may be added later! 

Afternoons will be reserved for prioritized and coordinated Congressional visits to (re)engage our champions (and future champions) on Capitol Hill.

Who Should Attend

The event is designed to provide attendees with an overview of current issues in health policy relevant to health quality improvement, and in particular those issues that intersect with the QIO program. We highly encourage CEOs and other C-suite executives, policy and communications staff, and IDIQ directors to attend. Attendees will hear from Congressional staff, policy experts, and other officials on the latest policy issues concerning Medicare and health quality improvement.

Hotel Information

Making Your Reservation

The 2019 Policy Forum will be held at the Washington Court Hotel. The hotel is right in the heart of downtown Washington within blocks of the Capitol Building and Union Station. AHQA has secured a group rate of $229 per night for hotel rooms. This special group rate will be available until Monday, January 7, 2019 or until full.

There are two options for reserving your hotel room for the Policy Forum:

  • Phone: Central Reservations – call toll free 202-628-2100; Request to be added to the AHQA 2019 Policy Forum room block (Group Code: 190205AHQA).  Please confirm your arrival/departure date and reference the Group Name – American Health Quality Association – to receive the special room rate.
  • Online: Visit the hotel’s special Policy Forum reservation website.

Transportation Information

The Washington Court Hotel is conveniently located on Capitol Hill, five miles from Reagan National Airport (DCA). Taxis are available and are approximately $20 each direction. Union Station, with Metro and Amtrak access, dining, and shopping is approximately one block from the hotel.

Bistro 525 is an eclectic Capitol Hill restaurant that specializes in seasonally-driven, Mid-Atlantic dining led by renowned Chef Mario Raymond. Area Attractions

  • Union Station: The hotel is also a short walk from Union Station, which features several chain restaurants, such as Pizzeria Uno and Au Bon Pain, as well as smaller restaurants, such as the East Street Cafe.   • Chinatown: The Gallery Place/Chinatown area features several well-known restaurants, including Clydes of Gallery PlaceLegal Seafood, and Cuba Libre . For a map of the Chinatown area, click here. Chinatown is within walking distance of the Liaison Capitol Hill.
  • The National Mall: The Liaison is a short 10 minute walk from the Capitol Building and the National Mall. Once on the Mall, the DC Circulator can take you to all the Monuments and Museums, including the Smithsonian, for a $1 Fare. Most Museums are free of charge, however some may charge a fee depending on how tickets are reserved, including the Holocaust Museum and the International Spy Museum. Arlington National Cemetery is accessible via the Blue Line of the Metro System.

Policies & Disclaimers

All registrations must be sent to AHQA Headquarters by COB January 29th. Purchase Orders will not be accepted as payment.

AHQA is unable to accept telephone or verbal cancellations. Please provide a written notice by fax (703-506-3266) or email to registration@ahqa.org no later than January 10th to receive a 90% refund or by January 29th for a 50% refund. No refunds will be considered after January 29th. Refunds may not be processed until after the event. AHQA reserves the right to provide refunds in the form of a paper check sent by mail, regardless of how payment was provided. If you are unable to attend the Policy Forum your registration may be transferred to another individual at no charge. In order to allow time for processing, written notification of a substitution must be received by mail or fax no later than COB on January 29.  No substitutions will be honored on-site.
