Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage triples the number of cases between surgical infections during 2002: A QIO-led initiative helped Providence Medical Center to increase surgical cases with on-time prophylactic antibiotic administration from 50% to 95%; increase surgical cases with recommended skin prep and hair removal (no razors) from 46% to 96%; and increase the number of cardiovascular surgical cases with recommended blood glucose levels during surgery from 19% to 62%.
