Pact
A
company of trainers, consultants and educators, Action Pact assists nursing
homes and other elder care organizations in becoming resident-directed
by encouraging the development of small, familiar communities which provide
more opportunities for elders to give care, make decisions and have control
over their daily lives. LaVrene Norton, executive leader of Action Pact,
is considered a national expert on culture change.

Commonwealth Fund
The
Commonwealth Fund is a private foundation that supports independent research
on health and social issues and makes grants to improve health care practice
and policy. The foundation is currently funding several studies on nursing
home culture change such as:

Healthcare Institute
The
nonprofit Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute focuses on strengthening
the direct-care workforce within the nation’s long-term care system
through developing innovative approaches to recruitment, training, and
supervision; consumer-centered caregiving practices; and effective public
policy. Their work is guided by the belief that creating quality jobs
for direct-care workers is essential to providing high-quality, cost-effective
services to long-term care consumers.
