Sandra Fitzler is a Registered Nurse with a Nursing Diploma and a BS in Nursing from Salem State College in Salem, Massachusetts.

She began her career in long term care as a nursing aide while working her way through school. She has since worked in a range of acute and community-based health care settings, including serving as Corporate Director of Loss Prevention for a large multi-facility corporation (Hillhaven - now Kindred). She has also held senior level positions as Director of Operations for Core Inc. and as CEO for Southern Rehabilitation Services.

In her current position, as Director of Clinical Services at the American Health Care Association in Washington, DC, she is responsible for monitoring and providing input to development of national health care policy that impacts long term care nursing care services.
