Criteria for Submission

Submission Process

The 2003 Technical Conference titled, Changes, Challenges, & Commitment: A New Era in Health Care Quality Improvement, will focus on the critical challenges of improving quality of care for a rapidly growing aging population, as well as the escalating expectations placed on health care systems. Special attention will be given to projects and activities focusing on initiatives that succeeded in improving quality of care in nursing homes, home health care settings, physician offices, and other ambulatory care settings.

Submissions are requested for each of eight (8) conference tracks. All presentations should address key quality challenges and offer practical lessons learned and solutions that attendees can adapt for use in their day-to-day work. They should be relevant, timely and professionally presented. Priority will be given to those submissions that present measurable results.

Submissions will be reviewed by selected members of The American Health Quality Association in a double-blind process to ensure concurrence among reviewers.

Submissions can focus on any of the following practice environments: acute care, home health, skilled nursing, long term care, physician offices, ambulatory care centers, hospice, or administrative environments. Or in any of the following settings: Medicare, Medicaid, private sector, fee-for-service, managed care, or grant work. For those tracks related to clinical settings or environments, priority areas include: lipid management in heart attack patients, diabetes, surgical infection prophylaxis, heart failure, heart attack, breast cancer, influenza, pneumonia, underserved and rural beneficiary quality improvement, pressure ulcer prevention/care, pain management, weight loss, and activities of daily living for home health and long term care patients.
