The American Health Quality Association (AHQA) represents the national network of Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) and other professionals dedicated to improving health care delivery to ensure that every patient gets the right care at the right time, every time – safely and effectively.

In every US state and territory, in major urban centers and rural communities, AHQA members collaborate with providers to evaluate health care quality and share best practices to improve care. Medicare, Medicaid, and many private payers and purchasers also rely on AHQA members to develop and conduct projects in quality evaluation and improvement. AHQA members serve state governments by conducting ongoing quality review and they conduct data analysis, quality audits, and independent medical review for private companies and health plans.

Our members routinely work on cutting edge topics in health care, including: health IT; pay-for-performance; public reporting; nursing home culture change; health care disparities; surgical infections; and prescription drug therapy under Medicare.
