The American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP) has evolved to become the nation's largest organization of interdisciplinary health care professionals. ABQAURP remains at the forefront of Health Care Quality & Management (HCQM). Through its ultimate goal to improve the quality of our Nation's health care, ABQAURP is dedicated to providing health care education and certification for physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals.

ECRI is a nonprofit health services research agency. Its mission is to improve the safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness of healthcare. It is widely recognized as one of the world's leading independent organizations committed to advancing the quality of healthcare. ECRI's focus is healthcare technology, healthcare risk and quality management, and healthcare environmental management.

The American Accreditation Healthcare Commission's mission is to promote continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of health care delivery by achieving a common understanding of excellence among purchasers, providers, and patients through the establishment of standards, programs of education and communication, and a process of accreditation.

The American College of Medical Quality is the specialty medical association for physicians and other professionals in the fields of clinical quality improvement, quality assessment, medical quality management.

American Society for Quality, Healthcare Division encourages research, innovation, and the formation of learning partnerships to advance knowledge of healthcare quality. Members include providers of healthcare and services, supporters of the providers, and others allied to the field.

Health Disparities Collaboratives™ A national effort to improve health outcomes for all medically underserved people with chronic diseases. The Health Disparities Collaboratives were developed to change primary health care practices in order to improve the health care provided to everyone and to eliminate health disparities.

Institute for Family Centered Care provides essential leadership to advance the understanding and practice of family-centered care. By promoting collaborative, empowering relationships between providers and consumers, the Institute facilitates family-centered change in all settings where individuals and families receive care and support.

Institute for Safe Medication Practices works closely with healthcare practitioners and institutions, regulatory agencies, professional organizations and the pharmaceutical industry to provide education about adverse drug events and their prevention. The Institute provides an independent review of medication errors that have been voluntarily submitted by practitioners to a national Medication Errors Reporting Program (MERP) operated by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) in the USA.

Midwest Business Group on Health is a coalition of employers working together to provide leadership and knowledge to continuously improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of health services. Members include public and private employers of all sizes in an eleven-state region.

The Best Practice Network is a not-for-profit entity whose vision is to provide a place where innovative solutions and best practices can be shared among nurses and other healthcare practitioners to promote healthy communities and provide optimal patient care.

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) is a Boston-based, independent, non-profit organization working since 1991 to accelerate improvement in health care systems in the United States, Canada, and Europe by fostering collaboration, rather than competition, among health care organizations.

The Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of care provided to patients across the continuum of health care. IMQ offers a wide range of educational, accreditation, consultation, and certification programs.

The International Society for Quality in Health Care offers a unique opportunity for individuals and institutions to share expertise via an international multidisciplinary forum. Supported by members, including leading quality health care providers and agencies in just under 70 countries, and with additional funds from the Australian and Victorian Governments, the ISQua Secretariat in located in Melbourne, Australia.

The Leapfrog Group's goal is to initiate breakthroughs in the safety and quality of health care in the US. The Leapfrog Group has just launched a web-survey to gather information from hospitals nationwide about their practices on three hospital patient safety standards. Leapfrog purchasers will share results with enrollees and the general public.

The National Association for Healthcare Quality is dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare and to supporting the development of professionals in healthcare quality. NAHQ considers itself a premier source of expertise in healthcare quality.

The National Coalition on Health Care is the nation's largest nonpartisan coalition working to improve America's health care. The Coalition is comprised of businesses, labor unions, religious groups, primary care providers, and educators.

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to assessing and reporting on the quality of managed care plans, including health maintenance organizations (HMOs).

The National Coordinating Council for Medication Error Reporting and Prevention intends to mount a nationwide campaign for medication error reporting and prevention that will promote recommendations broadly to colleges, schools, and state associations of medicine, pharmacy, and nursing; national professional associations; managed care organizations; and third-party payers.

The National Healthcare Cost and Quality Association publishes Cost and Quality Quarterly and Real Healthcare.

The National Health Care Purchasing Institute was founded to improve health care quality by advancing the purchasing practices of major corporations and government agencies, particularly Fortune 500 companies, Medicare, and public employers.

The National Organization for Competency Assurance sets quality standards for credentialing organizations. Through its annual conference, regional seminars, and publications, NOCA serves its membership as a clearinghouse for information on the latest trends and issues of concern to practitioners and organizations focused on certification, licensure, and human resource development.

The National Patient Safety Foundation: The mission of the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) is to improve measurably patient safety in the delivery of health care.

The National Quality Forum is a not-for-profit membership organization created to develop and implement a national strategy for health care quality measurement and reporting. A shared sense of urgency about the impact of health care quality on patient outcomes, workforce productivity, and health care costs prompted leaders in the public and private sectors to create the National Quality Forum as a mechanism to bring about national change.

The National Safety Council is a nonprofit, non-governmental, international public service organization dedicated to improving the safety, health and environmental well-being of all people.

The Quality Indicator Project began in 1985 as a voluntary pilot project of seven Maryland acute care hospitals that wanted to test a handful of clinical performance measures for data collectability and usefulness in quality improvement activities. Today, the Project has more than 1,800 participants across four different indicator sets: acute care, psychiatric care, long-term care and home care.

The Quality Interagency Coordination Task Force (QuIC) works to ensure that all Federal agencies that purchase, provide, study, or regulate health care services are working in a coordinated way toward the common goal of improving the quality of care. The QuIC seeks to provide information to help people make choices, to improve the care purchased and delivered by the Government, and to develop the infrastructure needed to improve the health care system.

The SCRIPT Project works to improve medication management. Public and private sector groups were organized in 1997 to form project, initiated and currently funded by HCFA. The expected outcome of the project is the development of a core set of outpatient medication measures that can be used in a variety of settings.
